The construction of a seawater desalination plant in Marsa Ben M’Hidi with a capacity of 300,000 m³/day.

💧 A site, a risk, an engineering solution.

To address water stress in western Algeria, the government has launched a strategic project: the construction of a seawater desalination plant in Marsa Ben M’Hidi with a capacity of 300,000 m³/day.

⚠️ The challenge: The site is located on a plot with demanding conditions: immediate proximity to a wadi and steep terrain. These conditions create a major risk of flooding in the event of flash floods.
This is where the expertise of the SMARTSKY ENGINEERING (SSE) team comes in, commissioned to conduct a comprehensive hydrological analysis of the flood risk.

🔍 Our technical approach: From watershed modeling to an in-depth analysis of Intensity-Duration-Frequency (IDF) curves, we simulated the most extreme climate scenarios.

Our results made it possible to:
▪️ Optimize the plant’s layout to distance it from the floodplain boundaries.
▪️ Propose the sizing of protective structures against wadi overflows.

At SSE, our team of expert engineers is always ready to tackle the most complex challenges. From natural hazard analysis to securing large hydraulic infrastructures, we put our technical rigor at the service of your projects.
